Joy (Bailey) Klute was a special lady. Not only was she a farm wife and mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many, she was also a gourmet cook before that term was widely used. Growing up in Oklahoma during the Great Depression, Joy knew how to make delicious meals with everyday ingredients. In 1947, Joy moved from Bartlesville, Oklahoma to marry Herbert Klute, a widower with four young children. Another five children were born to the family, who made their home on a farm near Hampton, Nebraska. Joy not only prepared three meals each day for the family, but also took morning and afternoon lunch to the men in the field most days. Her specialty was Southern panfried chicken, mashed potatoes and white gravy, served with homemade bread and jam–and usually dessert. Joy’s Table is a place where her name and way of doing things continues to touch the lives of central Nebraskans and other folks who are just passing through.

I came into Kearney, Nebraska for a work trip and stayed at the Holiday Inn (not my first choice but better hotels were sold out). To my surprise attached to the Holiday Inn was an amazing restaurant named Joy’s Table. You’re in Nebraska at a steakhouse, so if you order anything other than steak it’s a waste. The service was fantastic starting with the hosts and the servers. The food tasted great, I just wish it was a little bigger portion and sauce a little less salty. Overall great experience.
You simply cannot go wrong with dining at this fine establishment. The atmosphere and service was top notch, and the menu selection offers a vast range of choices to satisfy anyone. We ordered the Chateubriand (16oz, Angus filet, natural beef – medium temperature), along with brussels, mac & cheese, and truffled steak fries. The presentation of the meal was executed perfectly and the beef was flavorful (especially given that it was a fillet) and extreme tender. It should also be known the the menu foods are sources locally from well respected outfits that are owned and operated by the great people that live in the Midwest.
We were at the Holiday Inn for the indoor water park. The front desk gave us a coupon for kids to eat free from 4-9 pm and 10% off the total bill. Because of the coupon we ordered dessert. Food was excellent and service was prompt and friendly. The total experience was excellent.
We love Joy’s Table! It’s a great perfect night spot. The atmosphere is perfect for a couple or even a group outing. Plus, the food is just to die for. I love that they give full and half portions of all their pastas (which also makes a plate more affordable if you need!)
Excellent service, even for the large party I was with. Food was fantastic! I had the beef tortellini and the smoked apple bacon risotto. I had a half portion and I was more than full!
I worked with Liam to take care of a small group event. He was very prompt and easy to work with. The private room was set to perfection. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had a great cocktail, I can’t remember the name but it was something with pear – highly recommend. Service and staff were absolutely wonderful!
This meal, service and atmosphere was top notch!! The food was delicious! Real angus beef! Margaritas were Devine and the music- spot on!
Do yourself a favor and visit this restaurant. You.Won’t.Regret. IT!
I would like to let everyone know that Joy’s Table Pasta & Steak is by far the best restaurant in Buffalo County, Nebraska. My family always eats there to celebrate a family occasion or just to enjoy the great food and service. I would highly recommend you try this great restaurant for the best food that you ever ate.
Friendly and expedient staff. Ambiance is great for a nice night out and professional meetings. The food and drink menu was a great selection. Highly recommend the spinach salad and apple bacon risotto! Didn’t have room for dessert, but you should!
Josh was our server and to say he was the brightest and best in the room would still be an understatement. The food was spectacular and the marinara was absolutely delightful. The atmosphere is unmatched by anywhere else in Kearney.
